Listen and observe! Listen to where they want to take a space and observe how they are currently using their space. See what’s working and what’s not working. Build from there.
My biggest design mistake was:
Thinking I had to follow rules. Sometimes it works best when you break a few. Let your inhibitions run and don’t be afraid to try something different.
My favorite room to design is:
Powder rooms, as the smallest space can be the most interesting. Hang a chandelier or paint the ceiling metallic to invite drama, why not? Also I love children’s rooms, they are filled with such natural inspiration. I once designed an entire little girl’s room around a watercolor painting she had created. She loved it and felt so proud.
My design style is:
My design style is traditional-meets-transitional-borderline-contemporary and a little eclectic! In other words, I love mixing it up!
